Tsonga to Shanghai

The Stakes Were HighWell, everything was on the line on Sunday.  A Masters Shield, a ranking spot, a title, prize money, pride, and a trip to the most prestigious tournament in the world.
The contender:  David Nalbandian: a brute that is having a memorable end to his season, catching fire at the right time.
The contender: J.W. Tsonga: An Ali look-a-like who came out of nowhere to get to the Aussie Final, then struggled greatly with injuries, trying to pick up some slack for the years end.

After an epic match over 2 hours, Tsonga beat the red hot Nalbandian 6-3,4-6,6-4.

Tsonga books his first ever trip to Shanghai, and along with making some people happy that's it's not Nalbandian, he should be an interesting wild card in whatever group he is placed in.

As for Nalbandian?  Let this be a lesson to him that if he has the game to play like he did for the last 2 months, all the time, he'll be back in the top 5 in no time.

Before I forget, a quick reminder to everyone to VOTE (please).  No, I'm not talking about the presidential election (although I encourage you to do whatever floats your boat)...I'm talking about the poll on the site...so far there are only two votes, so not much of anything being proved by the results.

So your Shanghai 8..

FED
NADAL
NOVAK
MURRAY
DAVYDENKO
RODDICK
DEL POTRO
TSONGA

Tennis gets  chance to catch it's breath until Nov. 9, when the Master's Cup starts.

Stay tuned tomorrow for Tip of the Week.  and Starting tomorrow (since there is nothing else going on) I'll preview each player who is going to Shanghai one day at a time.

take care

I hope Fed makes a big comeback in Shanghai. I for one miss his great shot making and confidence he seems to have lost a little of.

Do you think Raffa will be 100%. His game is very hard on his body. How long can he hold up?????
